Interlocking Pavers Installation
A good base is the essential requirement for a durable job. Special care should be taken in preparing the base to assure a permanent installation. The depth of the base will be determined by the expected traffic load and the condition of the soil. The following information should help you in
making the right choices.

NOTE: Both native subsoil and granular .A. gravel should always be well compacted. The layer of sand prior to the application of pavers, should NEVER be compacted. All joints should be sanded too.
Determining Base Depth
For a patio or sidewalk around the home, a 4. to 6. (100 to 150 mm) depth is usually sufficient. This should be a sharp concrete sand or stone dust. For driveways, a 6. to 10. (150 to 250 mm) gravel base should be well compacted in layers approximately 4. (100 mm) with a vibrating type
compactor. This should consist of Granular .A. gravel with particles up to 1. (25 mm).
The gravel base should then be covered with 1. (25mm) of sharp sand and screeded level, but NOT compacted. Remember, there is no definite rule of depth, but the above suggestions will act as a guide. If there are any complications please feel free to contact us.
Levelling the Base
This is an important step in your installation to achieve a good job when finished. You must make sure the sand is levelled properly. Generally the most popular method of revelling is with a screed which is usually a long 2" x 6. board. It is very important that the board is straight; not warped
or twisted. For larger commercial jobs screeding bars or pipes may be used. A frame is required to maintain the base. This could be StonePresd Landscape Curbs for added strength and beauty. The levelling of this frame will indicate the level of your area.
Placing StonePresd. Interlocking Pavers
Stones should be placed in the desired pattern tight together. The spaces between stones should not exceed 1/8. (3 mm). Consistent spacing will help to maintain a uniform pattern. When laying each row the installer should stand on the previously laid stone. Cutting of stones where necessary can
be done with a splitter, chisel or masonry saw, as required.
Completing the Job
The pavers should then be tamped down and levelled with a vibrating plate compactor. This will bring them to their true grade as well as level the stones. Sand will be forced into spaces to make stones firm and free of movement. Finish the job by sweeping dry fine sand into the joints.
Note
As with any coloured concrete product, differences in colour can occur from one bundle to another due to differing dye lots. Always select your pavers from at least 2-3 bundles and draw from the bundles in vertical sections not rows across the top.
